Abia Teachers Say Dem Go Strike Becos Govnor Dey Show Dem Strong Head


 

Di Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) for Abia State don vex well well and say dem go start strike on Thursday. Dem talk say di Govnor, Alex Otti, dey treat teachers anyhow.

After plenty meeting wey dem do with all di big oga dem for di union since Tuesday, March 4, and another one on Thursday, March 28, dem decide say enough is enough.

Before dis decision, dem bin give Govnor Otti 14 days and later another seven days to fix di problem, but e no do anything.

For di news wey dem send out on Saturday, signed by di State Chairman, C. Madu Friday, and di State Secretary, Mrs Nnenna Okonkwo, di union say dem dey very worried about how dem dey treat their members.

Dem say since di last time dem talk on March 5, things don dey worse. Dem shock say when dem pay March salary, dem no put di new minimum wage and Teachers' Salary Structure. But dem pay other workers like medical people and judges with their own special salary.

Dem still dey retire teachers wey dey work for ASUBEB even after di Govnor say make dem allow teachers reach 65 years or 40 years of service. Dem say promotion no dey come well at all, and plenty other things wey dem talk about before.

Dem also complain say dem never pay di teachers for basic schools their back pay, even though dem don start paying their colleagues for SEMB. Dem say if dem pay di SEMB teachers, dem suppose pay dem too.

Di union vex say di government dey show teachers strong head and dem say dem give government 14 days to fix everything. If dem no do am, dem say dem no go fit tell their members to continue work well for di government becos worker deserve better treatment.

Dem beg Govnor Otti say make e no allow things to spoil more for teachers.

When dem call di State Chairman, Friday, e say dem give di government all di notice wey dem need to give. Di 14 days finish on April 11, and di seven days notice wey dem give on Wednesday, April 16, go finish on Wednesday, April 23.

E say di strike go start on Thursday, April 24, 2025.
