The big oga for Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adeniyi, don open mouth talk say those people wey dey smuggle petrol dey sell am give bandits.
Adeniyi talk this thing on Wednesday when he dey talk to news people. For the talk, he show plenty Jerry can and drum wey full of petrol, wey be like 500 of them. After that, he say make dem sell the petrol to normal people.
The Comptroller General, wey Assistant Comptroller General of Customs and the national coordinator of Operation Whirlwind, Hussein Ejibunu, represent, say the petrol wey dem catch worth like N26 million.
Ejibunu say: “I dey here for two reasons, to represent the CG Customs on top of this petrol wey we catch and the people wey dey do the bad business. I also be the national coordinator of Operation Whirlwind for the whole country, and my work na to make sure say our common property, wey be petrol, dem no carry am go outside country again.
“All this petrol wey una dey see here, we catch dem for different different place for Niger State. This na the first time we dey catch this kind thing and e show say we don come here to stop all this bad business of smuggling petrol.
“Smuggling petrol no good for Nigeria at all. E dey spoil our economy and e dey cause security problem too. E go surprise una to hear say plenty of those bandits wey dey attack us, na this petrol dem dey use.
“And now, e hard to allow this plenty petrol to enter their hand. E mean say we dey give our enemies power, we dey give them energy to come attack us. E important for us as Nigerians to know say if we see something, we suppose talk. Make we no allow this thing continue because plenty people inside Nigeria dey look for this petrol and dem no even dey see am. So, our mind don set to stop this bad thing completely,” he talk.
The Niger/Kogi Customs Area Commander, Paschal Chibuoke, also talk say dem catch the petrol because other government security people help Customs with information and people.
He say: “I happy to welcome una to this meeting with news people about the 500 Jerry can and two drum of petrol wey we catch for different time and place for Babana border area (Kabe, Tunga and Madugu Road, Kate Kigbra Road, Dekara, Gidan Zana Road, Babana Guazo Road Axis) and the vehicle wey dem use carry am. The total money wey the petrol and vehicle worth after paying duty na N25,988,000.00.
“I no know if Customs people no too many for the whole country. But if the officers wey I get here get enough things to work with, like new patrol vehicle wey get radio, e go help us stop this bad business well well,” he talk.
